Chess Justice: Kramnik won the title, despite the forfeit of game 5, and is now the undisputed World Champion of Chess. What’s next for the World Champ? In November, he has a match against Deep Fritz9, with a $1,000,000 payday if he wins.
I think Topalov’s inexperience in match play showed, and his nerves got the better of him. Also, the ridiculous ruse of “Toiletgate” and the FIDE fiasco that followed only made him look like an asshole conniver, a guy who would grab a point any way he could. Kramnik, now in possession of the FIDE title, should tell them to stick it up their collective asses. Methinks he can attract sponsers and worthy opponents in a way that would put FIDE to shame.
I’d like to see the new undisputed champ keep his head level and wear the crown, play some chess and, yes, get some big money for it. Who is more worthy of riches than the world’s top player of the world’s top mental sport?
You gotta love a Champ who, in a press conference after clinching the title, announces that he’s taking his team out to “get drunk.”
